To get to Öland you could either:

  1. -fly to Stockholm Nyköping (NYO) with Ryanair (very cheap flights, from £20 return) and rent a car. The journey from Nyköping takes 3 1/2 hours and is very pleasant with beautiful scenery on the way.

  2. -fly to Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and get a connecting flight to Kalmar. Hire a car in Kalmar and you’re 30 minutes from the cottage.

  3. -fly to Stockholm Arlanda, travel to Stockholm Central Station and get the bus straight to Öland.

  4. -fly to Copenhagen, Denmark and get the train to Kalmar.

It is useful to hire a car during your stay as it allows you greater flexibility.
